Our awa (river) carves its way from its headwaters in the Kaimanawa ranges out to the Tasman Sea.
Along her journey she passes through steep river canons, massive papa limestone cliffs, stretches of sparkling trout-laden pools, and ends at an iron-rich black sand beach.
Here our landscapes and sceneries are picture perfect, and, as an unofficial dark sky reserve, Rangitīkei has some of the clearest night skies you'll ever see!

On average we have 2,000+ sunlight hours, approximately 30,078 metres of rugged west coastline and more square metres of wide-open spaces than we can count.
Gumboots are an acceptable form of footwear in our district, we don't have parking meters or traffic lights and we're the only place in the world you can get milk from Bulls (we like to do things a little different).
