Taihape Museum

Check out the local history of Taihape.

This lovely museum, run by local volunteers, hosts multiple collections relating to Taihape’s early days. There are interesting collections which educate around the early history of farming, saw milling and railways in the area. There are loads of photos to check out in their extensive photographic collection, as well as a biographical index. The building the museum is housed in is a well-preserved Methodist Church built in 1902, which has been the home of the museum since 1975.

The Museum is open from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Sunday but can be opened for viewing by appointment. Check out their website for details.
