Bruce Rennie - Artist
Born 29 January 1928, Bruce Rennie arrived in Marton in 1954, with a Diploma of Fine Arts from the Canterbury University of Fine Arts, and taught at the Marton District High School till 1957.
He taught at the newly opened Rangitikei College from 1958 to his retirement in 1987. As well as teaching, Bruce ran art classes and produced the Rangitīkei College school play for the next 29 years inclusively.
In 2026, Bruce Rennie street banners were created to honour his art work and dedication to the community. The banners are some of the many examples of Bruce’s artistic talents that helped advertised Rangitīkei College school plays. These school play posters were displayed in various shop windows in and around Broadway Marton.
Bruce Rennie street banners will be on display in Marton, along Broadway at various time of the year.
Bruce passed away on 18 February 2017.
Street banners were kindly sponsored from Rangitīkei District Council.
